NewsFire: Mac RSS with Style!

Posted on 30 July 2007 in 3rd Party Software | 3 Comments »

I was editing a bit the “Subscribe” page of the blog (some kind of “how to subscribe to the RSS feed of Mac Amour”), after a small introduction to what RSS is (for those who still doesn’t know), I started a list of my favorite RSS readers, on top of them: NewsFire.

I remembered that I never wrote a post on NewsFire, while it’s an application I use daily just like Apple Mail.

NewsFire is an application that made me do a crazy thing: I already had a license for NetNewsWire and I deleted the application and bought a license of NewsFire; just to have it as my default (from Safari’s preferences) and only RSS reader.

FeedBurner PRO became “free”

Posted on 3 July 2007 in Wordpress | No Comments »

FeedBurner PRO for everyone

Mac Amour’s RSS feed is burned via FeedBurner, I just discovered yesterday that the PRO service became “free”
The MyBrand feature will permit Mac Amour to have a feed name that matches the domain name, I should receive my MyBrand tomorrow.

If you have a blog with (or without) FeedBurner you can go to their blog and read more on that.

F*** Me I’m Famous !

It’s all about house music!
It’s all about David and Cathy Guetta. F*** Me I’m Famous is a house music compilation made by David Guetta (worldwide know french house music DJ) and Cathy Guetta (his wife), but it’s also crazy house music nights in Ibiza, but it’s also Design.
The logo itself (shocking for some, cool for some others), it’s also T-Shirts and many very trendy goods. And finally it’s a website I love.
I also wanted to share with those who like House music, two podcasts, the first is Dancin made by David Guetta himself, it’s indeed mixes he does for Radio FG and the second one is Just A Little More House: young DJ’s mixing superb house music and electro tracks. Here are some High Resolution F*** Me I’m Famous Wallpapers.

Top Ten Reasons why People Unsubscribe for your RSS feed

Posted on 27 February 2007 in Web & Web 2.0, Wordpress | No Comments »

  1. The author publishes too many posts. Readers can’t keep up and feel overwhelmed.
  2. Inconsistent or infrequent posts. Readers don’t know when to expect your next post.
  3. Author doesn’t broadcast the full RSS feed. This forces the reader to click and visit the blog, defeating the purpose of syndicating.
  4. Author changes direction. People loose interest because the author talks about things that no longer interest them.
  5. Lack of original content. Author invests too much time into reporting old news found on other blogs.
  6. No fire or spark in the content. The author is boring, negative and doesn’t make people feel good.
  7. Content is irrelevant. Author writes about one topic while readers expect to see another.
  8. Big Head Blog Syndrome. The author is over confident and comes across as being arrogant and goes overboard on self-promotion.
  9. The articles suck. The articles are hard to follow and readers fail to understand or grasp the point.
  10. The articles are novels. Aside from cost, there is a reason most commercials on TV are only 30 to 60 seconds in length. The length of your posts could kill your number of readers.

Here is what NewsFire looked like on version 0.2, it was such a promising application, and to be honest it became an application every Mac user should have!
