Made by Loaf Ninja, this hat icon is the perfect replacement for any of your RSS reader desktop application.
I’ve just replaced the Sherlock Holmes hat I used to use for NetNewsWire with this one.
Download Holmes here, and Ninja Loaf’s hat here.
Here are some of the rare screenshots of this incredible application.

The author, Dustin McDonald said he spent 1 year developing it, and should release it this friday!

Now it’s clear, everybody can have NetNewsWire running on their Mac for free!!! NewsGator made this powerful RSS reader free a month ago, and it’s an amazing thing!
This “standalone” RSS reader is able to synchronize with NewsGator via an account that you have to set up on the application itself, once done, you can read/check you RSS subscriptions via the application itself (NetNewsWire), via the website (NewsGator.com) or via your mobile phone thanks to one of the many applications that NewsGator enables you to download for your mobile device.
The application’s design is superb, you can judge by this screenshot.

Will David Watanabe make NewsFire free as a reaction?
Here’s finally an update to an application I love: NewsFire. (The best RSS reader for OS X according to me).

Leopard friendly interface with a new “fade when inactive” feature that makes the application transparent when inactive. The application is fast as usual, simple and affordable.
Download it here.
For those who are using one of the replacement icons as linked on MacAmour.com, you will have to do the hack again, here’s the link.
If you’d like to increase your audience, you gotta have more subscribers to your RSS feed.
You can add the feed link to your blog’s head meta so that it can be auto-found by feed subscription software. This is incredibly simple to do and only takes a few minutes if it’s not already in place for your blog.
Add the following code between the <head> and </head> of your blog’s theme:
<link rel=”alternate” type=”application/rss+xml” title=”Title of your Feed” href=”http://www.link.com/to/your/feed.xml” />
For the WordPress users, you can add the following (most themes already come with it enabled, no need to have it twice):
<link rel=”alternate” type=”application/rss+xml” title=”<?php bloginfo(’name’); ?>” href=”<?php bloginfo(’rss2_url’); ?>” />

I think it’s one of the rare free RSS/Atom Reader for OS X. The application is superbly designed and has all+ the features RSS readers like NetNewsWire or NewsFire have.

The “plus” it has is the blogging integration with enables you to blog a selected article straight from Vienna. It really worths it to give it a try.. Especially because it’s free!
