MobileMe -> Transition

I recently wrote a post on the consequences of the MobileMe transition on the .mac actual services.
Now just wanted to talk about the page Apple made on the transition from .mac to MobileMe.
Apple reminds actual .mac users that the iDisk, Back to my Mac, iWeb site publishing, Mac to Mac sync, and iMovie + iPhoto services will remain.
And a lot of FAQ that are interesting to read.

MobileMe -> Consequences
Posted on 15 June 2008 in dotmac & MobileMe | No Comments »
Many informations on the internet about MobileMe, so much I’m excited with this new service; especially because I always felt the .mac service could be better!
- First consequence, a sad one, the iCards service will “die” in early july… I’ll miss that service!!
- Second consequence (for the actual .mac service users I believe), a very cute one, we’ll receive a new email address (the @mac.com will remain too) with @me.com, emails for both accounts will be received in the same mailbox.
- Third consequence that we all have heard about is the iDisk storage space that will increase from 10 GB to 20 GB!!!
- Apple updated its .mac blog with a new entry to help us being prepared for MobileMe, it’s simple 3 steps tutorial to follow:
- Set up your Mac to sync contacts and calendar.
- Upgrade your browser to the latest version of Safari, Firefox, or Internet Explorer.
- Watch the MobileMe Guided Tour.

We have some .Mac addicted here at MacAmour.
They’ll be happy to learn that Apple improved that service.
It was renamed MobileMe.
The iDisk now offers 20 gigas.
You can now synchronize a Mac, a PC and an iPhone wirelessly.
Apple developped web applications like the alredy known WebGallery (MobileMe Gallery now) and an Agenda etc…

Rumors on the web, as always. Apple still motivates people to investigate on their intentions and strategies, especially when the WWDC approaches (which is often full of surprises).
Here’s a digest of these rumors.
While some found on the latest version of the iPhone’s firmware traces of something called “Mobile Me”, and while some others found similar things on the latest version of Leopard 10.5.3 (which has been released before WWDC), many rumors are claiming it’s the future .mac service, that will be called “Mobile Me” (what an ugly name for an Apple product).
Anyways, lately some websites are reporting the Me.com domain has been bought by… Apple.
One thing is sure, the iPhone was a mass success! And another thing is sure, Apple will release a new version of its mobile phone, because the iPhone made Apple reinvent the mobile phone.
The .mac service… Old and obsolete, I’m still paying the $99 because I’m used to use my @mac.com email address. Yeah, Apple increased the disk space to 10 Gb it’s true, but the service itself is unreliable. So, why ain’t there a new iSync, or .mac pannel in Leopard 10.5.3? And what is this “Mobile Me”? Did Apple really bought Me.com? That’s what we’ll discover in a couple of days!
All these informations are of course rumors (non official sources)…
