Alternatives to iTunes 10′s icon

Posted on November 14th, 2010 in iTunes | No Comments »

Any MacAmour reader knows my opinion on iTunes 10′s icon.
This post is for those of them who share my point of view.
First off, here are the 2 possible techniques to change iTunes’ icon:

Technique #1:

  1. Quit iTunes. Command+click on icon to show its location.
  2. Right click to “Select Package Contents”
  3. Find “iTunes.icns” and replace it with your icon in .icns format (not jpg or png).

Technique #2:

  1. The first thing you need to do is download the attached icon file.
  2. Open the icon file.
  3. Press “cmd+A” to select the image, then “cmd+C” to copy it.
  4. Now, you need to close iTunes.
  5. Next, you should open finder, and click Applications.
  6. Find iTunes and click it a single time.
  7. Click “File”->”Get Info”
  8. Click the ugly icon at the top right, next to the text “iTunes” “Modified”, etc.
  9. When you click it, it should highlight. Press “cmd+V” to paste in the better, prettier icon.

Note: the iTunes 10 icon in your applications folder should change. You might have to remove the App from the dock and add it again, if your dock icon doesn’t change.

Alternative icons to iTunes 10′s:

How do You update the .Mac service in System Preferences to MobileMe

Posted on July 11th, 2008 in dotmac & MobileMe, Macintosh Tips & Help | 5 Comments »

The Leopard Version of the MobileMe updater was posted by Apple a few hours ago, it wasn’t and it is still not available from your Software Updater.
But a strange thing happened… While it was possible to download the package from here, the link now, is dead.
I have no idea on why this is happening…
Anyway, one thing is now sure, Leopard won’t turn to iTunes OS!
A possible solution is to get it from a Torrents website, for example, this link takes you to a downloadable MobileMe updater.

The file is small: 25 Mb, once installed, you’ll have the updated MobileMe icon in System Preferences instead of the ancien .Mac icon (I’m still looking for the updater for Tiger).

If you check your Software Update after installing the file I linked you to, you’ll see the version 1.1 of MobileMe Updater!

I was expecting to see a small cloud in the menu bar instead of the old double arrows circle, but all I had was… nothing.
