Google Custom Search added to MacAmour Blog + Small Tutorial
Posted on 3 August 2008 in Web & Web 2.0, Wordpress | Comments
Just added the Google Custom Search engine to MacAmour instead of the classical search engine (mainly) based on Tags added manually.
This tool is powerful, because it really makes you feel you have Google’s power for a blog.
You can give it a try by searching for a combo of keywords like “unlock iphone 2.0″.
Impressive tool by Google (again).
The implementation of the code was quite easy.
- All you have to do to make is to follow the wizard, check the “display in a custom page” the results.
- Create a new page in your Wordpress blog for example “MacAmour Search Results”, and paste the page’s URL in the Google Custom Engine’s wizard.
- Go to your “header.php” file, replace the search engine code by the one give by the Wizard.
- Edit the custom search results page by pasting in code view the code given by the Wizard.
Done.

Posted on 9 July 2008 in 3rd Party Software | Comments
If you’re a frequent visitor of MacAmour, you may have read many posts on an Open Source application called QuickSilver. A mix between a Spotlight, Finder, Terminal but most of us are using it like a launcher in OS X.
But if you’re a user of QuickSilver you may also know the developer claimed the project has been discontinued since 2007.
But there’s a wind of hope in the air. While another developer trying to clean up QS’s code to make it faster; the original author of this amazing tool is working on a new version of QS!
Download the latest version of QuickSilver here.
You’ll notice the last version has some new features nobody heard about like Quick Look support!
The last update is version beta 56; june 25th.
Bonus: Nicholas Jitkoff’s (author of QS) conference at Google explaining QuickSilver!
You’ll find the video after the jump.

Will Yahoo’s Stock Plunge Send Yang Crawling Back to Microsoft?
Posted on 6 May 2008 in News | Comments
After Microsoft pulled its offer to buy Yahoo for at least $33 a share, Yahoo’s stock has fallen this morning from Friday’s $28.67 close to around $24.50 a share. That’s a pretty steep 14% drop.
But it’s not as much some people expected. Deutsche Bank, for example, just set a target price of $17, and other analysts had expected shares to fall closer to the $19 and change where they stood just before Microsoft’s unsolicited bid.
Investors may be buoying Yahoo’s stock partly because they are looking forward to a possible search ad outsourcing deal with Google. They’re also probably figuring in a small premium on the chance that Microsoft at some point may come back with another offer.
