Firefox 3 Alpha 8 Released

Posted on 14 September 2007 in 3rd Party Software | 1 Comment »

Firefox 3, code name Gran Paradiso, is now available for download for OS X and Win.

This release is made for testing purpose only, or just for Firefox users to see what the next Mozilla’s most used browser in the world will look like. I highly recommand you to keep your existing Firefox version, because this is not even a beta, it’s an alpha version.

NB: it won’t support Mac OS 10.3

Growl finally updated: Version 1.1 now available!

Posted on 9 September 2007 in 3rd Party Software | No Comments »

And finally this amazing utility has been updated! To be honest I thought Growl was completely dead because there were no more updates and no more styles available via ResExcellence.

I’m happy this update has been done, an opportunity for me to rediscover this application I removed a long time ago from my Mac.

As a reminder, Growl adds system-wide notification system to your System Preferences that other applications can plug into for displaying messages.

There is now a global positioning system built into Growl (took 2 years to make!).

It apparently keeps notifications from overlaping as well as a close button to notifications (on mouseover), a sound option and various bug fixes.

Download Growl free here.

Popcorn 3 + iChat

Roxio released the 3rd version of Popcorn, the general design of the application has been changed to make it look like Toast 8. The application’s icon changed too for an uglier one. The application is a bit slower but has more features than the previous one.

Popcorn 3 lets you as always convert DVD to iPod/iPhone, PSP and Apple TV format with Turbo Charged H.264 exports. It also includes TiVoToGo which makes you “TV made portable”.
