This is a new trend it seems, most of the everyday application Mac lovers use have been updated to be Snow Leopard compatible through beta versions; as a result you won’t be notified of these released through your applications’ update menus.

For instance, Xtorrent has been released to a 2.0 beta v80, and CoverSutra to a 2.2 beta 5.
Even Appfresh won’t notify you of these updates. Solution? Visit developers’ blogs/sites.
The latest beta version of NetNewsWire comes with an amazing surprise!

No more NewsGator as a web interface and sync base, now the first thing you are requested when you first start NetNewsWire is your Google account data! More.. NewsGator Online synchronization will no longer be available for consumers as of August 31, 2009

The icon is better than the previous one (that I hated) and it’s the same graphical interface than NetNewsWire 3.1
A new Beta of AOL Radio 2.0 requiring at least Mac OS 10.5.2 is available.
It’s still the same good app referencing radios by genres, but it also has some new features like showing the cover of the current song instead of its icon in the dock and still theĀ Growl-like notifications when changing the station.
You can download AOL Radio 2.0b1 here

AOL Radio is also available as a free App for iPhone/iPod Touch.
You can get it from the iTunes Music Store or directly from the iPhone’s AppStore.
This version is really slick and is the Apple Design Winner in 2008’s iPhone Developer Showcase.

iSofa, wifiTunes, Signal ($30) etc… will be swept way when iTunes 7.7 will be released.
The beta version Apple is seeding to developer comes with a bundled application that will allow you to that.
It should be released maybe today or tomorrow (because the iPhone 3G will be shipped on june 29th) or in two weeks maximum (MobileMe release date july 11th).
Beyond the new remote functionality, iTunes 7.7 is also known to add an Applications tab to let users specify loading only certain software on the phone, and will be necessary for both iPhone 3G and the MobileMe sync service.

The key new feature for this beta is Facebook chat support.
You can download it from the beta page or enable āUpdate to beta versions when availableā in the Adium General preferences.
Apple has already sent a Beta of the next update for Leopard.
It may seem a little “anticipated” especially with the good feedback for the previous update (the 10.5.3) but i guess that’s the normal evolution pace to have a fully-optimized OS

The beta version of Mozilla Firefox 3 is available for download.
Most of the extensions I was using on Firefox 2 are not compatible with version 3 beta.
The prototype theme for OS X is beautiful, and that’s the purpose of this post: sharing it!
