Renaming/Hiding Boot Camp Partition

28 December 2008, Hedi Regaya | 1 Comment »

renamed_bootcamp_macamour

The boot Camp partition (NTFS system file) is, as many of you have noticed, read only.
As a result, you can’t rename it, change its icon, delete a file from it…

  • To rename your bootcamp partition, just boot to Windows and rename the Hard Drive from there (from the Windows explorer).
  • To hide your bootcamp HD, just change the name of the Windows Hard Drive (see above) but this time, type a dot (.) before the name of the HD.

Example: “.Vista”

No Wi-Fi on a Vista Boot Camp Installation

3-29-07-macs_vista

This is due to the fact some drivers are missing.

To solve this problem (and some keyboard functions including ejecting a disk), all you have to do is:

  1. Boot on Bootcamp
  2. Insert Leopard’s DVD once Vista started
  3. This will automatically begin installation of the Boot Camp 2.0 drivers

Tomb Raider Anniversary for Mac

25 December 2008, Hedi Regaya | No Comments »

More photos of Karima Adibebe here.

The Tomb Raider series follows the pixelated beauty, Lara Craft, thrill seeker and British archaeologist. Mystery, intricate puzzles, harrowing escapes, and priceless treasure is some of the things you will encounter during Lara Croft’s globetrotting escapades.

“The adventure begins when Lara is hired by a powerful syndicate to retrieve a mythical object called the Scion. As Lara searches ancient tombs and isolated worlds that have lain undisturbed for thousands of years, she discovers that she is not alone. Not only has she awoken their fearsome guardians but there are others desperate to learn the Scion’s dark secrets.”

If you want to try the game before you purchase your in luck MacGameFiles lets you download a demo Tomb Raider: Anniversary. The download is 273 MB in this demo; you will be able to play through part of the Lost Valley level in Peru. I originally started playing the Tomb Raider series on my desktop PC when it first hit the scene. I’ll be sure to download and play this on my MacBook Pro.

iDisk Failed to Sync

21 December 2008, Hedi Regaya | No Comments »

An error message that I don’t wish none of you to meet, but it’s happening to me these days on two Mac’s.
This post comes after the one I announced in the OS X update, not sure it’s OS 10.5.6 but I have some doubts on that.
Solution 1 is the following:

  1. Turn off iDisk Sync (click the Stop button in the iDisk pane of MobileMe preferences, in System Preferences).
  2. Restart your computer.
  3. From the Go menu, choose Home.
  4. Open the Library folder.
    • For Mac OS X 10.4 or earlier: Remove the Mirrors folder
    • For Mac OS X 10.5: Remove the FileSync folder
  5. Restart your computer.
  6. Re-enable iDisk Sync.

Solution 2:

Someone calling themselves dotwaffle on the mac discussion boards gave the following solution:

… disconnect the iDisk, turn off Syncing, open a Finder with the iDisk mounted online, then opened iTerm (Terminal will do)

I navigated to my iDisk (in my case cd /Volumes/dotwaffle) and ran the following command:

sudo rm -rf .FileSync/ .TemporaryItems/ ._.TemporaryItems .com.apple.timemachine.supported

Solution 3:
