Apple Scripts Introduction and Best Scripts for iTunes

Posted on November 13th, 2008 in Macintosh Tips & Help, iTunes | No Comments »

Apple Scripts are actions (or sets of actions) that can be launched from almost all of your Mac’s (bundled) Apple applications.

These scripts are time saving solutions especially for repetitive actions.
And here’s an example with iTunes and some of the best Apple Scripts (to me).

First thing to do, check if you do have the scripts folders for iTunes, the best way to make sure you do have it is to run iTunes and take a look at the menu bar, it should looks like this:

The Apple Scripts logo is the one you see before “help”.

If you don’t see it, just go to your Home Folder:Library:iTunes and create a folder and name it “Scripts”:

Back: Apple’s September 9th’s Event, iPhone Nano 4G & Chrome

Posted on September 6th, 2008 in Rumors, iPhone & iPhone 3G, iPod & iPod Touch, iTunes | No Comments »

Sorry for the absence, I was very busy the previous days!

Let’s go back MacAmouring (Loving our Mac) with some rumors first of all.
As I said many times, I’m not pro rumors, but these ones are more likely than unlikely.
iTunes 8.0, iPhone Firmware version 2.1 and maybe a new iPhone Nano.
The September 9th Apple Event: “Let’s Rock” will be more based on the Apple devices (iPod and iPhone as we said) than on the Mac (Computers and OS).
More audience as a result, that’s a sure thing, a Windows user will be interested with the latest iTunes version as well as the latest iPhone firmware’s version.
It’s sad, I wanted to hear about a new iLife’09 and iWork’09, some more on the upcoming version of Leopard (Snow Leopard).

Many pictures of the iPhone Nano 4G are available on the web.
The most “possible” one is the one under (on my opinion):

TuneConnect 2

Posted on August 28th, 2008 in 3rd Party Software, Freeware, iTunes | 1 Comment »

When you have 2 or more Macs, it’s easy to see one’s mac iTunes library and listen to it from another Mac.

But you may want to control your main Mac’s iTunes ( the one connected to your speakers for example )  when you’re using another Mac : you’d want to browse your songs, see the cover of the playing song, etc…

TuneConect 2 is a free and very well done app which exactly does what i described above.

 * First step you enable your main Mac as a server : just install the pref.pane provided with TuneConnect.

Posted on July 31st, 2008 in Mac OS X, iTunes | No Comments »

Apple has released iTunes 7.7.1, a minor update to the media playback/purchase and iPhone/iPod sync tool, through Software Update. Apple’s release notes state only that the update ” includes fixes to improve stability and performance.”

Typical problems after iTunes updates include:

  • iTunes cannot locate music files, fixes When the issue manifests, any attempts to play some songs are met with error messages indicating that iTunes cannot find a specified file.
  • Freezes when connecting an iPod/iPhone If this problem manifests, try deleting the following files from ~~/Library/Preferences/ (your user library preferences folder):

com.apple.iTunes.eq.plist
com.apple.iTunesHelper.plist
com.apple.iTunes.plist

iTunes 7.7 comes with the App Store and Software version 2.0

Posted on July 10th, 2008 in 3rd Party Software, iPhone & iPhone 3G, iPod & iPod Touch, iTunes | No Comments »

Here it is, finally.

The latest version of iTunes 7.7 brings the App Store.
Most of the applications are free; and that is an amazing thing for iPhone owners we are!
I’m so happy to see almost all the applications I use daily on my Mac available now for the iPhone like NetNewsWire, Twitterrific, or AIM!

The rumors were right, iTunes 7.7 came with a free utility that enables you to remotely control iTunes from your iPod Touch or iPhone.
No applications to customize the look (icons etc..) of the iPhone yet, but it would be amazing to have a CandyBar for the iPhone!

You can download iTunes 7.7 from here.

Will MobileMe turn Leopard into iTunes OS?

Posted on July 6th, 2008 in dotmac & MobileMe, iPhone & iPhone 3G, iTunes | No Comments »

I just did another test this morning (sending my @me.com address an email) to see if it has been activated and YES it is active!
To me the transition to mobile can lead to 2 possible scenarios: on my opinion there will be another OS X update (Leopard & Tiger): thesis, but another scenario is possible too: antithesis.

Posted on June 27th, 2008 in iPhone & iPhone 3G, iPod & iPod Touch, iTunes | 1 Comment »

iSofa, wifiTunes, Signal ($30) etc… will be swept way when iTunes 7.7 will be released.
The beta version Apple is seeding to developer comes with a bundled application that will allow you to that.
It should be released maybe today or tomorrow (because the iPhone 3G will be shipped on june 29th) or in two weeks maximum (MobileMe release date july 11th).

Beyond the new remote functionality, iTunes 7.7 is also known to add an Applications tab to let users specify loading only certain software on the phone, and will be necessary for both iPhone 3G and the MobileMe sync service.

Last.fm & Leopard

Posted on June 26th, 2008 in 3rd Party Software, Macintosh Tips & Help, iTunes | 3 Comments »

Why doesn’t the Last.fm client work for most (or all) Leopard users?
The explanation must be too technical or inexistent. I’ve tried all that a normal user can do to make it work: deleting preferences of the application, delete and re-install it, changed my last.fm password.. but in vain.
Before Leopard got released I wasn’t using the Last.fm client anyways, I had a crush for CoverSutra when it became compatible with Last.fm.
But even CoverSutra isn’t working for me on Leopard (I’m not the only one having this problem it seems), add to that the fact the application became too heavy with its new spotlight like feature.

Today a friend gave me the solution; downgrade to CoverSutra version 1.1.4 and it works!!!

I took the little heart (in the menu bar) that comes with CoverSutra version 2 and here I am scrobbling again the songs I’m listening!

My Last.fm account: this way.
