Send SMS via Bluetooth phone from Address Book
Posted on November 15th, 2009 in Address Book, iSync & iCal, Macintosh Tips & Help | View Comments

For anybody missing the ability of Address Book.app to send SMS messages (Apple Kbase article), which was present in 10.4 but removed in 10.5 and has been missing ever since, there is now a free plugin I’ve written to provide some of the missing functionality.
It adapts the SMS sending code from the emitSMS Dashboard widget into an Address Book action plug-in, which should be compatible with 10.5 and 10.6. Unfortunately, SMS receiving and dialing numbers via Bluetooth aren’t supported, so it doesn’t replace everything Apple removed in the Leopard version of Address Book, but it should provide a little more ease of use.
Just download the plug-in (96KB), expand the zip file, and then drop it in /Library/Address Book Plug-Ins. You can find more instructions and usage notes on my site.

Google just added CalDAV support to Google calendars, here’s a tutorial on how to synchronize Google Calendars on iCal without any third party application or plugin installed:
- Go to preferences from iCal and select the “accounts” tab
- Click the “+” button to add a new account

- Fill the pop up with these informations:
Description: This will be the title for your CalDAV calendar list
Username: The complete email address you are using with Google Calendar (example: steve@gmail.com).
Password: The password you are using to sign in to Google Calendar.
In the Server Options drop-down, enter [ https://www.google.com/calendar/dav/ [ your Google Calendar email address ] /user ] as your Account URL (example: https://www.google.com/calendar/dav/steve@gmail.com/user)

- Then click on add and wait a few minutes until your calendars are completely synched to your Mac; all subsequent syncs are instantaneous.

While Apple Mail loads in a glimpse of an eye, Entourage feels the need to show you off it’s brand new splash screens for a couple of seconds…

Well, after a first look at Entourage, I told myself “why is it so complicated?”, look at all those buttons, columns, text, icons.. It’s for me impossible to talk about Entourage without comparing it to Apple Mail…

“To Do”: The Widget Apple Forgot
Posted on January 7th, 2008 in Address Book, iSync & iCal, Apple Mail, Dashboard | View Comments
To Do is THE widget Apple forgot in the bundled widgets you have on your dashboard with Leopard. To me, stickies are dead, and they have been replaced by To Do and Notes in the latest Apple OS: Leopard.
This widget is simple, it has sleek design and it is 100% integrated to iCal & Mail. No need to open these apps to see your To Dos, the widget collects them all and it even gives you the ability to add/remove a To Do, or to mark them as done!
Download it free here.
