Developed by Cocoatech, Path Finder is now on version 5.6.6 (for Snow Leopard).
This application is an alternative to the default Finder by Apple: a files browser.
But, Path Finder has many features the Finder doesn’t have, I’d like to share with you this screencast from Cocoatech showing off some of the features of this grandiose application!

Open UIF files on your Mac (by converting them first to ISO)

Posted on June 7th, 2010 in 3rd Party Software, Mac OS X, Macintosh Tips & Help | View Comments

Here is the only way I found to open .UIF disc images (without having to start my bootcamp partition and mount them with MagicISO).
The little tool I’m blogging about is free and is called: “UIF 2 ISO 4 Mac” and can be downloaded here.

How to use it: start UIF2ISO4Mac, drag the .UIF file on the application icon right on the dock, the conversion process starts and you’ll find the output file in the same path than the input file.

Free solution to Make FLAC readable on a Mac

Posted on March 27th, 2010 in 3rd Party Software, iTunes | View Comments

FLAC: Free Lossless Audio Codec is not a recognized format by iTunes.
To listen to a FLAC file on your Mac there are (in theory) 2 solutions: convert the file, or add a plugin to iTunes.
Since I’m not the kind of person that likes to mess a lot with my Mac, I prefer the first solution.
To me, MacFLAC is the perfect deal: free, fast and easy to use.
The possible output formats are WAVE and AIFF as you can see in the screenshot below:

Three steps to use MacFLAC: drag, drop, convert.
You can get it free from here.

Mozy Manages its user’s accounts by Deleting Them

Posted on March 27th, 2010 in 3rd Party Software | View Comments

If I’m unhappy it is because of Mozy.
Today, I went to Mozy to use my old account, tried to login but it failed, reason: password is wrong…
Opened my OS’ keychain and looked for my original 2007 password:

But nothing it did not accept the password…
Have I changed it? Went to Mozy’s homepage and clicked on the “lost my password” URI, 2 minutes later: no email, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 30 minutes, … one hour later I decided  to open the webmail page of AOL instead of keeping pressing the send/receive button on Mail.app, but once again, no email.

So I decided to write an email to Mozy’s support (rest of the story after the jump).
