On monday january 13 of 2009, Microsoft decided to make free transfers of your emails (hotmail.com or live.com) to any email application or iPhone.

As a result, no need for httpMail or MacFreePOP anymore.

I’m going to configure my account in the rest of this post.

  1. Open Mail.app and go to Preferences (command + ,) then go to “accounts”.
    hotmail_config1_macamour
  2. Click on the “+” to add a new account, and fill with your name, email address and password.
    fill_apple_hotmail_macamour
  3. Now let’s configure the incoming and outgoing servers:
Incoming Server: pop3.live.com (username should be yourusername@hotmail.com)
Outgoing Server: smtp.live.com (same thing for the username)
  4. Of course, you can do that on Mozilla Thunderbird or Outlook (if you’re a PC user).
    Same settings for the iPhone!
