Wrote a blog post on Google Desktop when it has been released more than a year ago, and to be honest, in that time I didn’t love that application that much and I even removed it from my system.
Today, I confess, I can’t live without this application anymore, it is installed on my 3 Macs and on my work PC.
The application once installed and once your HD indexed acts like an application launcher, like a Google Desktop Search Engine, and like our dear Spotlight.
To call it, all you have to do is to hit “command” twice, this little box will appear in the glimpse of an eye:

As soon as you start typing, the application starts gathering results from your HD (just like Spotlight does):

Better, when you make a search for something on Google.com, the results page shows you how many items related to that search you have on your HD:

The only complain I have is toward Google Desktop for PC’s incompatibility with Safari…

Still wish Google Desktop search could index more than one Gmail account. Many people have multiple Gmail accounts each for different purposes, e.g. work account, personal account. Right now, Google desktop only allows one Gmail account to be indexed.
