I was impatient for the release of this (free) iPhone application; I was wondering when WordPress would react against its competitor TypePad (who released its application a long time ago).

WordPress for iPhone is intuitive like almost all the iPhone applications; it supports self-hosted blogs and blogs hosted at WordPress; it also enables you to manage more than a blog.
Adding a blog doesn’t require a high level of expertise, all the applications asks for is the URL of the blog, the username and the password, a child can do it.
Now, losing your iPhone is more dangerous than it ever has been… Too many sensitive data stored there!
