Delicious Library 2

Awarded with an Apple Design Award in 2007 for the Best Mac OS X Leopard application, Delicious Monster is back with a new version of Delicious Library, and all I can say is this version is PHENOMENAL!
Let’s make a tour of the new features of Delicious Library 2.
As a reminder for the few of you who doesn’t know this application, Delicious Library is a Media Cataloguing application, the first version that ended with a very stable version 1.6.6 allowed you to only catalogue: CDs, Movies, Books and Softwares.
The application has a modern and slick interface, easy to use and learn for everybody, but DL2 is more than a beautifully designed application.

DL2 is now on my opinion a must have application. Adding items to your catalogue is as easy as performing a search on the Finder:

You can also add new items to Delicious Library with the revolutionary BarCode reader via your iSight or with a Bluetooth scanner!
What’s new with the latest version of DL2? First thing I noticed is the application now catalogues automatically your iTunes content: movies, music, TV shows, audiobooks and of course audio content.

The application, as a result can be used a music, video player because it enables you to start playing any of your iTunes media from DL2.
Another addition to the latest version of DL is the fact you can manage now (in addition to music, movies, softwares and books) your collections of Toys, Gadgets, Tools and Apparel!

But one of the things I love the more in DL2 is how integrated it is to Mac OS X: the application communicates with:
- iTunes (to catalogue your iTunes medias),Â
- Address Book (if you borrowed something to someone you can create a shelve in which you’ll drag and drop every object he has),
- iCal (it adds an event reminding you one of the objects in your catalogue has to be returned),Â
- Mail (you can send by email your recommendations),
- the iSight (barcode reader),
- your .mac account or iWeb (you can publish your collection to your .mac account).
Â

As you can see in this screenshot, DL2 offers more than .mac support. You can also upload your collections to a FTP server or just export it to a folder. For the moment there are only two templates, but I’m sure there will be more to come!
Version 2 of DL brings some other improvement like the talking voice when you add a new item, and its easter eggs (as a bonus at the end of this post).
The fact DL2 communicates with Amazon, you will be able to do some unexpected actions from a desktop application like buying, selling, or rating items.

In one word, I’d say every Mac user should have a copy of this application installed.
You can judge by yourself by giving it a try.

Bonus: Easter Eggs:
- When a Star Wars item is added, Delicious Library says ‘I am your father’ in the whisper voice
- When a Harry Potter item is added, Delicious Library says ‘Voldemort’ in the whisper voice
- When A Brief History of Time is added, the library talks about science concepts in a mock-synthesized voice.
- When Rock Band is added, Delicious Library sings a portion of Run to the Hills by Iron Maiden in the whisper voice.
