iPhone Unlocking and Law (France)

According to a famous french advocate: Frederic Forster:
a mobile service provider should give instructions on how to unlock any phone after 6 months (required for the compensation of the lowered price of the phone when it’s sold from the provider).
When it comes to the “act of unlocking” itself, there are no laws that prohibits that, that is why you might see some stores on the streets which proudly claims they are unlocking mobile phones.
But… Apple (as a designer and constructor) can have rights on the structure of the phone itself, so unlocking it means changing the integrity of the phone.
As a conclusion , he said that in the USA and in Europe there is a lack of laws for the unlocking practice…

Well here in Italy the law is recent, they made unlocking completely illegal..
Ciao “Roma”,
It’s not for me a surprise that Italia finally decided to make of phone unlocking an illegal act, especially because I already bought a “tre” (3) locked Nokia and it was a nightmare to unlock it (it took 6 months before I got my phone unlocked, I used it for maybe 2 days an sold it)…
I’ll wait until the iPhone becomes a “normal” phone (sold without any plan) before purchasing it.
