I was editing a bit the “Subscribe” page of the blog (some kind of “how to subscribe to the RSS feed of Mac Amour”), after a small introduction to what RSS is (for those who still doesn’t know), I started a list of my favorite RSS readers, on top of them: NewsFire.

I remembered that I never wrote a post on NewsFire, while it’s an application I use daily just like Apple Mail.

NewsFire is an application that made me do a crazy thing: I already had a license for NetNewsWire and I deleted the application and bought a license of NewsFire; just to have it as my default (from Safari’s preferences) and only RSS reader.

The application has been written by a genius, he is the author of the amazing Acquisition, of the superb Inquistor and of the revolutionary Xtorrent. David Watanabe!

The application is fast, reliable, it is able to manage a huge amount of feeds, it starts in the glimpse of an eye, you can organize your feeds with folders, it communicates with Safari (it handles RSS feeds instead of the browser with a click).

The application is beautiful, the feeds goes up with a slick iChat (when a user changes his status) like animation when a new post is published. The application’s icon in the dock displays how many posts you haven’t read: Unread Feeds

An application that may survive to Apple Mail RSS (bundled in the upcoming Leopard)!
