With the new iChat you’ll be able to compose SMS (I’ve read it will only work to write SMS to US numbers)…
I hope they will implement international numbers support..

You can already do this. Just do new chat, and send a message to a number, including 1 at the front. It’s not an iChat feature, it’s an AIM feature, and it’s beena round for a while. I guess iChat is just making it more obvious in v4.0
Thanks for the tip, I also tried another way to send SMS via Jabber on iChat (I connect to MSN, AIM, Yahoo Messenger and ICQ via iChat) but it didn’t work.
Including “1″ —> only for US numbers…

Not sure I understand the tip. I tried that in iChat and all I get is a chat box. Can’t find a way to send to a number. Probably just over thinking the tip. Help please?
Here’s the hint:
Type the message you want to send as an SMS into a new IM window and change the screenname field to +16175551212.
Replace 6175551212 with the phone number of the SMS-capable mobile phone.
The “+1” is the country code, which is required; however, I don’t think AOL supports non-US numbers yet, but they do plan to.
To utilize this cool feature in iChat, simply type Shift-Command-N for a “New Chat with Person,” and enter the phone number in the above format. When you send the message, you’ll receive confirmation from AOL that it was sent. Pretty neat!
