I like the time machine and the expose the best out those icons. Leopard s going to be fantastic when its out.
Here’s my fav Leopard icon:
Once I downloaded img2icns, I had no problem converting png to icns. Even drag a full size image over and made an icon in seconds. Thanks so much for the information and guidelines.
It doesn’t seem to do anything for me - I drag an image onto it, and it pops up a dialog asking me where to save the output and whether to make a .icns or a folder icon, but there’s no “go” button of any kind that I can see - there’s a wheel thing and the word “Ready” in the bottom right, with a spinner that isn’t spinning… and it just sits there. I can change the type of output or the output directory, but I can’t make it actually do any converson.
What am I missing?
Select “.icns” if you want to create an icon, and drag a “.png” file, select a location in the main program window and just drag the image in the target.
You’ll find your .icns icon in the selected location
Great icon design. However, that blue screen of death has got to go. That causes me to shiver and cringe!
@keithr
i had the same problem and i couldnt figure out why it wasnt doing anything… but i solved it. i had downloaded my icons from interfacelift, and i got the os x version of the icon set i wanted. the icons werent in .icns format, but neither were they in any image format recognizable by photoshop. img2icns couldnt convert these files.
i tried my best to identify just what kind of files they were… but im still unsure. my best guess is that they are just dummy files with the icon replaced (via copy/paste in the “get info” window).
you might have the same problem as i had. to check, try converting some file you KNOW is an image (any photo or graphic you might have on your computer… img2icns even seems to handle .psd files!) and see if it works. i bet it will.
what i ended up doing is just download the linux version of the icon set, which is just png images of various sizes, and that conversion worked fine.
hope this helps you or anyone having the same problem!
