Taking a screenshot while watchin a DVD

I don’t really understand why Apple disabled the ability to take a screenshot of our OWN DVD’s in OS X. (command+shift+3)
I’ve searched the internet and i’ve only found complicated tricks (terminal etc…)
But here are the easiest ways:
1- VLC 0.84 supports snapshots (if it doesn’t work go to 2)
2- VLC preferences > Video > change the snapshot format to JPEG
3- a homemade trick that i found by myself: while playing your movie on VLC do an ALT+TAB until you reach the finder, then command+shift+3 and you’ll get the screenie.
